Estimates and assumptions
Our calculators produce estimates based on:
- The inputs you provide (salary, property price, yield, etc.) — we cannot verify these are accurate for your situation.
- Macro assumptions (prime rate, CPI, SARS tax brackets) that reflect the May 2026 framework. These will change over time and the site may not update instantaneously.
- Simplified models. Real-world transactions involve legal costs, transfer duty, agent commission, vacancy periods, bond initiation fees, and other frictions that are either simplified or excluded. The methodology articles in the Insightssection explain each model’s scope.

Chankura is operated in South Africa and our tools reference South African legislation (Income Tax Act, FAIS, POPIA). The outputs are only relevant to South African residents or those dealing with South African assets. We make no representations about applicability in other jurisdictions.

We may reference market data (property yields, electricity tariffs, equity returns) sourced from public reports and commonly cited benchmarks. We do not guarantee their accuracy or currency. These are illustrative defaults — replace them with your own numbers for a more accurate result.
